Frequently Asked Questions

Is this legal advice?
No. This tool generates a starting-point template only and does not constitute legal advice. Petboost Pty Ltd is not a law firm and accepts no liability whatsoever for the use of these documents. We strongly recommend you have a qualified Australian solicitor review your documents before relying on them in your business.
Why does my pet business need terms and conditions?
Written terms and conditions protect your business from disputes, set clear expectations with clients, and can reduce your liability exposure. They cover cancellation fees, no-show policies, vaccination requirements, emergency vet authorisation, and more. Without written terms, you have little recourse if a client disputes a charge or claims you are liable for an incident.
What clauses are included in the T&Cs?
The builder generates comprehensive terms covering: services offered, eligibility and health requirements (vaccinations, parasite prevention), booking and scheduling, cancellation and no-show fees, late arrivals, payment terms (including Stripe processing), matted coat consent and dematting risks, service risks and safety, behaviour and aggression policy, emergency veterinary care, limitation of liability and indemnification, owner responsibility, photography and media release, changes to terms, intellectual property, privacy and data collection, and governing law.
What does the client waiver include?
The waiver is a standalone document clients sign before their first appointment. It covers vaccination and health confirmation, health disclosure, owner responsibility, aggressive behaviour acknowledgement, emergency care authorisation, service risk acceptance, matted coat consent, photography permission, release of liability, T&C acceptance, and household coverage.
Are these templates tailored for Australian law?
Yes. The templates reference the Australian Consumer Law, include a governing law clause for your state or territory, use Australian English, and follow conventions used by Australian pet businesses. However, they are not a substitute for independent legal advice specific to your circumstances.
What pet business types are supported?
Dog Grooming, Dog Walking, Dog Daycare, Dog Training, Pet Boarding, Dog Boarding, Cat Boarding, Puppy School, Pet Concierge, Pet Wellness, Canine Rehab & Physio, and Equine & Livestock are all supported. The builder adapts sections and clauses to your selected service type, so you get terms tailored to your specific business.
Can I use this for my dog walking or pet sitting business?
Yes. Select Dog Walking as your service type and the builder will include clauses for off-leash permission, key holder agreements, pet sitting service terms, walker liability, and extreme weather cancellation policies.
Does the waiver cover grooming risks like matted coats?
Yes. The waiver includes a specific matted coat consent item covering dematting risks such as minor nicks, skin irritation, hidden skin conditions, and haematomas. The T&Cs also include a dedicated matted coats section with your chosen policy (shave and notify, refuse severe cases, or extra charge).
How does the builder handle cancellation and no-show policies?
You choose your cancellation notice period (e.g. 24 hours), your late cancellation fee (percentage or flat rate), and your no-show policy (full charge, same as cancellation, or no charge for first offence). The builder generates the appropriate clause with your specific terms.
Can I edit the documents after downloading?
Yes. Documents are generated as editable Word (.docx) files. You can open them in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or any compatible editor to add, remove, or modify any clause.
Is my progress saved if I close the tab?
Yes. Your answers are saved automatically to your browser. You can close the tab and come back to finish later.
How does the 15-step policy builder work?
You walk through 15 sections covering every aspect of your pet business terms. Each section asks simple questions (multiple choice, toggles, and text fields). The builder generates professional legal language based on your answers. You can preview the first few sections before purchasing.
Is this a subscription?
No. It is a one-time payment. No recurring charges. You get unlimited downloads of your generated documents.
How much does a pet business T&C template cost compared to a lawyer?
Having a solicitor draft custom terms and conditions from scratch can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. The Petboost Policy Builder gives you a comprehensive starting-point template at a fraction of that cost. We still recommend having a lawyer review your final documents.
Do I need to be a Petboost customer?
No. The Policy Builder is a standalone product available to any Australian pet business. You do not need a Petboost subscription.
