Petboost vs DogMode | AU Pet Business Comparison | Petboost
Petboost
vs.
DogMode
Already using DogMode? Petboost already does everything DogMode sells. Here is the honest comparison, including what their 3.95% costs once it starts working.
An honest, side-by-side comparison to help you decide what's right for your Australian pet business.
Australian businesses have run on Petboost since 2022, including teams from DogMode
The short version
DogMode sells keeping your customers coming back as one product and measures every part of it, and their report card is lovely. Petboost already does all of it. Their fee is 3.95% of every booking they drive, and you pay the greater of that or your subscription, which is $0 on DogMode Payments and otherwise $25 solo or $99 per location. The 3.95% rises as it works. If you want that as a layer over software you already like, buy theirs. Verified 16 September 2026.
Switching from DogMode?
Does Petboost already do all this?
Yes. Every part of it.
Report cards, automatic rebooking reminders, self-service rebooking, Smart Google Review Requests, Wrapped and a public showcase page that ranks in Google, shown on our home page as The Petboost System. The differences are that their card is a forwardable public link and they measure what each part drove.
Is DogMode actually free?
Below about $2,500/month of driven bookings, yes.
Booking fees credit against the subscription down to $0, but the credit stops there and the 3.95% does not. You pay the greater of the subscription or 3.95% of every booking DogMode drives. Verified 16 September 2026.
Does the fee apply to my regulars?
Yes, if they rebook through a DogMode surface.
Their published rule is that a booking counts when it flows through a DogMode surface, which includes the rebook button on a report card. Walk-ins and phone bookings are never claimed. If your book is mostly loyal regulars, model this before committing.
Can I take card payments at the counter?
They text a payment link; we have a terminal.
DogMode's counter flow is a staff-texted payment link the owner pays on their own phone. Petboost supports the Stripe WisePOS E terminal and Tap to Pay on iPhone at Stripe 1.7% + $0.10.
Can I move my data across?
Yes, but export your photos first.
We migrate customers, pets, services, add-ons, team and hours, resources, settings, packages and credits, and load your forward calendar for you to check. Historical report cards are DogMode-hosted pages and are not portable.

Consider DogMode only if
There are limited scenarios where DogMode may suit you better:
Shops whose single biggest problem is clients drifting rather than operations
Businesses that already have an operations system they are happy with and want a retention layer over it
MoeGo users wanting a growth overlay, since DogMode lists a live MoeGo connector
Owners who want a marketing cost that only appears when it produces a booking
Groomers and daycares who would genuinely send a photo report card after every visit

DogMode vs Petboost
Pet Owner Report Cards
A visit summary sent to the owner
Both ship report cards. The real difference is delivery: theirs is a public link anyone can open and forward, ours sits in the portal behind the owner's passwordless login.
D
DogMode
Their flagship: mood, behaviour chips, a diary in the dog's voice, photos and a rebook button on one page
P
Petboost
Personalised Report Cards: customer-facing notes, photos, team member and service summary, delivered in the pet owner portal
Keep Them Coming Back
Everything between one visit and the next one
Both platforms do all of this. DogMode sells it as one thing and measures each step. Petboost shows it as one system on the home page and does not yet report on what each stage drove.
D
DogMode
Report cards, a rebook button, due-back nudges, review asks, win-backs and resharing, sold as one named product with reporting on what each part drove
P
Petboost
Named as one stage of The Petboost System on our home page: automatic rebooking reminders that follow each pet's own visit rhythm, 24/7 self-service rebooking, recurring bookings and overdue flags, alongside Personalised Report Cards, Petboost Wrapped, Smart Google Review Requests and a public showcase page that ranks in Google
Customer Acquisition Surface
Where a brand-new customer finds the business
Two different acquisition routes: theirs is word of mouth between owners, ours is local search.
D
DogMode
Resharing a card to another owner. Cards return noindex, nofollow, so they are deliberately not searchable.
P
Petboost
A public business showcase page, indexed by Google. Ours already rank first in Australia for local searches like "dog groomers ballina".
Pricing Model
What the software costs you
Their 3.95% includes card processing and our booking fee does not, so compare like for like. Below roughly $2,500/month of driven bookings, DogMode is cheaper. Above it, their cost rises with your revenue and ours does not.
D
DogMode
$25-$99/month per location, or $0 with DogMode Payments, plus 3.95% of every booking they drive (card processing included, 50c minimum). What you pay is the greater of the subscription or the fee.

Our Focused Approach
We do fewer things exceptionally well rather than many things adequately. Our customers consistently tell us our design and user experience is miles ahead. Here's where we've intentionally focused elsewhere:
A report card an owner can forward to a friend
Considering
Petboost has report cards, but they are delivered in the pet owner portal behind a login. DogMode's is a public link, which is what makes the resharing step work. Ours is the more private design and theirs is the more viral one.
Reporting on what each part drove
Considering
Petboost does all of this but does not report on what each part produced. DogMode publishes open, reshare and rebooking rates per card with stated counting rules.
A one-line website booking embed
Considering
We offer a hosted booking page and a shareable link. DogMode's single script tag is a neater install on an existing WordPress or Squarespace site.
A $0 subscription with no volume condition
Focused elsewhere
Petboost waives the subscription on card payment volume, not on a percentage of driven bookings. For a very small or brand-new shop, DogMode's entry cost is lower than ours.
A DogMode connector
Focused elsewhere
DogMode lists connectors to overlay other systems, including MoeGo. There is no Petboost connector and we are not building one.

A forwardable, no-login report card is the specific artefact you are buying
You are small or brand new, and a percentage of driven bookings costs less than any subscription
Your operations are already sorted and you only want a retention and marketing layer over the top
You use MoeGo and want their live connector rather than a full migration
You want a one-line booking embed on an existing WordPress or Squarespace site
You would rather a marketing cost only appeared when it produced a booking
Recommended
Petboost?
You have a loyal book, where a percentage on every rebooking adds up faster than a subscription
You want a predictable cost that falls as you get busier, not a percentage that rises with revenue
Still unsure?Book a no-pressure demo and we'll help you figure out if we're the right fit, even if that means recommending someone else.
Honest about change
The little bit of pain is generally 4 to 6 weeks. Then it clicks.
Switching to any new system is a big adjustment. Buttons are in different places, naming might be different, and the muscle memory you have built does not transfer overnight. We tell every customer the same thing: give it 4 to 6 weeks. Then, one day, you realise it is so much better.
