Score each line from 1 (not really) to 5 (every single time). Then add your team, tables and tubs, and we'll lay out an ideal week, with a printable plan: do now, do next, and later.

Step 1 of 5
On an ordinary day, across the whole team.
Every box starts filled in, so Next, Next, Next still lays out a week. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
Five rules, all of them here. The same answers always give the same week.
15 lines, 1 to 5 each: 15 to 34 the day runs you, 35 to 54 good bones, leaky minutes, 55 to 75 running like clockwork
The same 15 lines and bands as the printed scorecard. Before and after has 6 lines, so it is out of 30; the other three sections are out of 15. Your lowest section, as a percentage, goes to the top of Do now.
what it really takes if you timed it, otherwise what you book, rounded up to the next 15 minutes
Booked times start at the typical full groom in our sample of 65 Australian salons. If more than 25% of your dogs are doodles, poodle crosses or double coats, the result shows Petboost's Recommended presets beside it (Double Coat +30 minutes, Frequently Matted +45, Nervous +15), as presets, not measurements.
the smallest of: their own most dogs a day; their hours less 105 minutes, divided by the average groom for your size mix; their table
The 105 minutes are 15 of setup, 30 of lunch, 30 of buffer and 30 of notes and rebooks. With more groomers than tables, the extra groomer gets no table time. With fewer tubs or dryers than groomers, starts are staggered by 15 minutes each. It is the Capacity Calculator's people against space rule, with the unbooked minutes written out.
setup, a nervous dog first, big dogs, medium dogs, lunch nearest the middle, small dogs, one buffer, notes before close
A nervous dog goes first in, in the quiet room if you have one, booked 15 minutes longer, and never more in at once across the salon than your number. Big dogs go only to groomers happy doing them and never start after your cut-off; with midday energy they wait for the first hour. A bather runs one dog ahead of a groomer.
at most 3 in each of Do now, Do next and Think about later
Every line is triggered by one of your answers and quotes it. A 1 outranks a 2, a plain no counts as a 2, and something worked out from your numbers comes after both. Each one names the Petboost feature that does the same job and links to its Academy guide.
The booked times come from how long a dog groom takes, our sample of 65 Australian salons. For people against space across grooming, daycare, boarding and mobile, try the Capacity Calculator.
Scoring yourself is the easy part. Holding the line on a busy Saturday is the useful part.
We make Petboost, so weigh this with that in mind. Everything here works with a stopwatch and a notebook. Petboost remembers it for you: give an attribute like Double Coat or Nervous its extra time and surcharge once with Booking Properties, and it is added every time that dog books, online or at the desk.
