Dogs NSW describes the Border Collie as very intelligent and easily trained, with a coat that can mat during a coat drop if dead hair is not removed. The Royal Kennel Club lists grooming more than once a week and more than 2 hours of exercise a day. Both sources say it needs an engaged, active owner and a house with a garden.
