Dogs NSW describes the Schnauzer as highly intelligent, quick to learn tricks and a people dog that wants to be part of the family. The harsh wiry coat needs weekly grooming and is usually clipped for non-show dogs. A house with a garden and about 40 minutes of exercise a day is recommended.
