What should a dog walking report include?

Pick-up and drop-off times, the route, toilet breaks, how the dog walked on the lead, the dogs they met, and the checks you made before you locked up. The house checks matter as much as the walk to an owner who is not home.

Why record the house checks?

An owner who comes home to an unlocked door or an empty water bowl will remember it longer than any walk. A ticked line shows the check was made, and by whom.

Should I note reactions to other dogs?

Yes, briefly and without judgement. A dog that reacted on one corner may need a different route, and the owner may already be working on it with a trainer.

Should the report card go home on paper or by text?

Either works. Paper suits a pick-up at the counter. A text suits an owner who collects after hours or never comes in, because the card reaches them wherever they are. If you print it, keep a photo of the filled-in card on the pet record so the next team member can see it.

Dog Walking Report Card Template

This card records one walk from the door and back: the pick-up and drop-off times, the route, toilet breaks, how they walked on the lead, the dogs they met, and the checks before you lock up. Most walks happen while the owner is out, so this is the only account they get.

Use the printout

At pick-up, write the time and whether the walk is solo or in a group.
Fill in the route, toilet breaks and lead manners when you are back.
Tick the house checks before you leave and write the drop-off time.
Leave the card where the owner will see it, or send a photo of it.
